SummaryThe Communications Media Specialist is responsible for writing, researching and executing external organizational communications, ensuring that YRMC’s purpose and key messages are communicated effectively, accurately and consistently. The Communications Media Specialist coordinates public and external communications through the development and execution of strategic communication plans and integrated media strategies. They will work to proactively identify stories of interest and impact, connecting the work to stories that strengthen the brand and improve perception.

ResponsibilitiesServes as a media relations coordinator for YRMC. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with media on local, state and national level. * Works with leaders to proactively identify media opportunities or challenges. Aligns media strategy with goals of the organization to positively impact perception. * Researches and writes press releases and media pitches. Tracks and reports metrics * Partners with executive leadership, physicians and patients to write special communications on various platforms including annual reports, patient stories, blogs, presentations. Effectively writes message to appropriate audiences and demographics. * Works collaboratively with leadership in times of crisis to deliver timely consistent communications to both internal and external audiences. * Edits and proofs content for community relations; uses accepted journalist standards to provide strong editing and proofreading for materials used in advertising, marketing, communications, patient education, web site, and others as identified. * Provides executive communication support, creating messaging platforms, presentations, social posts and other tactics to enhance communications with external audiences and elevate the brand. * Coordinates and/or takes professional photos, video to compliment writing content; edits photos for publications, digital communications and media. * Works collaboratively with other communication colleagues, partners and stakeholders to ensure an integrated, effective approach across all communication channels. * Other duties as assigned.

EducationEssential:

• BACHELOR'S DEGREE

Other InformationBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. * Minimum of 3 years of public relations and communications experience, preferably in a fast paced, complex environment. Healthcare experience preferred.
