Mon Valley residents flocked from all over yesterday for Monongahela Main Street Program’s sixth annual railroad-themed Street Fair — the city’s biggest outdoor event.Part of the city’s Fourth of July celebration, the street fair was set up on the 200 block of Third Street. It featured close to 30 booths with food, crafts, games, music and arts activities, educational stations and other attractions. The fair also had gyros, funnel cakes, hot dogs and a lemonade stand run by grade schoolers.“It’s always good to get my name out there in the area,” said one of the guitarists, Jim Braum of Carroll Township, who has been playing the instrument for more than 20 years. “Great music, great vendors, it’s a good family-friendly time for all.” https://lnkd.in/eztW4Z2t

***Warning: Celebratory Post Below***While the Portland Lindy Society (PLS) hosts weekly dances and live music for our local community, our flagship event every year is the Portland Lindy Exchange (PDXLX). First hosted in 1999, PDXLX is an entire weekend celebrating the vintage swing music and dances of the 20’s – 50’s, and draws dancers from across the U.S. as well as international swing communities. Looking over the data we collected from PDXLX 2024 last month, two numbers stand out to me:- We increased our event pass sales by 65% from 2023 📈 - 100% of our survey respondents have a desire to return next year 😍 As the Event Director for PDXLX since 2022, I know our event growth is in no small way fueled by our efforts to reflect and learn from each year. Not only do we survey our attendees for feedback, but we also host an internal retrospective process, allowing us to capture lessons learned and build better the following year. Staying open to feedback can certainly be challenging, but like dance, facing the music often yields the best results!BONUS: Check out the Breakfast Club featured in our group photo, consisting of those who were the last dancers standing in the wee hours of the morning 🤠

Tips to navigating the Stagecoach crowd this weekend: 🤠1. Plan ahead and avoid areas near the festival grounds during peak traffic times. 2. Check the festival schedule and plan your activities around the times when music is not playing to avoid large crowds.3. Go to local parks, museums, or other attractions less likely to be crowded.4. Stock up on groceries to avoid busy restaurants that may be overwhelmed with festival-goers.5. Utilize public transit or ride-sharing services to avoid parking headaches near the festival grounds.

Beyonce‘s belief that her father Mathew Knowles stole money from her led to his being fired as her manager, according to legal papers obtained by TMZ in 2011. The pop singer terminated Mathew Knowles — who launched her career at a young age — in March , 2011 . If Beyonce had continued with you Mr Knowles as her manager , she would have been very unhappy that speaks volumes . We have been supporting Beyonce for decades all the way from #Africa , we heard your poor management odeal. It troubled every black female trying to rise whose family was abusing funds. The matter ended in court because you were fighting your own daughter after doing her wrong . This matter should have not even gone to court . For this reason your leadership is not to be trusted Sir . As a father she respect you but as a business manager you were fired by your own daughter that speaks volumes. Those who chose to take your advice in business can do so. As a father congratulations. I respect Beyonce for knowing what she wants and going full force . Thanking all her managers that took over since 2012 because she sky rocketed. How many of you have your parents as managers in your business . How much do we cover up for families who drag us down ? It takes a lot to fire your own father out of your successful business . Beyonce is just strong . This is why I personally like her . She stands for her own truth and won't compromise her success for no one not even his own father . Some families manage business well. #drthabdekamazibuko
